For further information about this vacancy contact:LSDVI/Human ResourcesDiane LeBlanc(225) 757-xxxxQualifications: * A Master's degree from accredited university or college with Louisiana certification (according to Bulletin 746), in special education, psychology, school psychology, counseling, social work or a related field, experience in functional behavior assessment, behavioral intervention development, and implementation support . * Experience working with emotional disturbance and behavior concerns, preferably in a classroom setting. * Experience in the field of psychology in an educational or clinical environment providing assessment and/or counseling services preferred.Job Concepts:Professional ResponsibilitiesThe School Psychologist provides direct services to LSD and LSVI teachers and paraprofessionals in behavioral support in dealing with students identified with emotional disturbance and/or disabilities; providing assessments, in-services, and consultations concerning intervention strategies, referrals and follow-up. The School Psychologist collects and compiles data as needed for the department, district, state, and federal reports and assists school staff in crisis intervention.The employee must be able to perform these assigned duties without significant risk of substantial harm to his/her own safety/security and the safety/security of others.I. Programmatic Responsibilities * Serves as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, provides assessments for the identification of students' needs, and provides written reports within the required timelines. * Provides assistance with IEP development and meetings when behavior issues arise. * Maintains case records, reports, and all necessary documentation in order to provide for continuity of services and program accountability. * Assist with Self-Review Special Education Monitoring * Develops, facilitates, implements and/or evaluates staff development related to supporting positive student behavior for all personnel * Conducts and interprets Functional Behavioral Assessments for students needing Tier 2 or 3 interventions (students needing a formal Behavior Intervention Plan fall in Tier 3) * Develops, trains, and monitors the use of behavioral interventions to teach students successful behavior * As needed, counsels students individually and/or in groups * Conducts research regarding best practices in the following areas: 1) Assessment selection and interpretation for students with sensory deficits; 2) Current practices and training in the area of behavioral analysis and interventionsIII.
