Competitive pay and benefits package offered! Position Description The Audit Senior Accountant performs most work assigned with minimum assistance. Often instructs staff on work to be performed, reviews the work done, and directs necessary revisions. Is able to make decisions on all but the most unusual accounting and auditing matters. Sets up time budgets on jobs assigned and can lead staff to employ methods that will accomplish objectives timely. Supports the firm by performing the following duties: Performs diversified accounting and auditing assignments under the direction of Manager, Senior Manager and Partner. Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards. Meets time constraints and client deadlines. Participates in planning and scheduling client engagements. Becomes proficient at preparing financial statements using the firm’s software programs and prepares other reports, projects, and duties as assigned. Knows and understands the reason behind the firm’s policies and procedures and posses technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff and review workpapers. Begins to develop a command of GAAP, other comprehensive basis of accounting, unique or specialized accounting principles, and financial statement presentations. Evaluates internal controls, prepares risk assessments, and generates engagement programs. Obtains a thorough understanding of generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques. Effectively communicates with clients to gather information necessary to complete the engagement with minimal disruption. Develops expertise within agreed upon industry niches. Becomes involved in state/local professional organizations, serves on state/local committees, and accepts volunteer positions in local community organizations. Trains, monitors and mentors other staff while on engagements and while in the office. Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a four year accredited college or university 150 credit hours CPA requirement met If CPA Licensed, must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants, and the State Board of Certified Public Accountants 2-5 years of related experience and/or training or Equivalent combination of education and experience Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in use of computers and have knowledge of computer accounting software programs used by the firm. Other Qualifications Must be prepared to spend majority of time at client’s office, including occasional out of town travel.
